On the frantic 4 day visit we did before we moved across we had some time at One Tree Hill, the weather was sunny, people were out doing things, the park was full of families, walkers, skaters, dogs, and more... and I was enchanted.
Now we are here, we all went as a family to see the place, and I think we all fell in love. Although there is no longer one tree, but a monument, as I get repeatedly reminded, the whole of Cornwall Park is covered in beautiful well established ancient trees, some that literally look like they came out of Lord of the Rings ;)
We had breakfast in the beautiful restaurant that is opposite Acacia Cottage, next to an open fireplace which they lit moments after we sat down... ahhh bliss!
Then we went around the park with the kids and they patted dogs, climbed trees, ran up and down hills, & Daniel practiced his archery with the bow and arrow set we had bought for him the previous day.
We actually have not yet seen the monument on the top of One Tree Hill, we go for the food at the restaurant and then go on to other things. I know we will be back there though, so I'm sure we will get to see it :)
I have some video of Daniel and his archery, which I will add later on.
I think Sarah climbed half a dozen trees, as did Jono. Jonathan and Sarah also wanted to pat every dog that came past, and quite a few dog owners were obliging enough to let the kids do it. So nice of them :)
When the sun is out, it is truly glorious. The views, the proximity to nature, and the harbour make this a truly stunning city, and one of the other things I love, people take advantage of it.
I see so many people out exercising, playing, running, bike-riding, with their families, in groups or by themselves, it inspires me to be more active, despite the colder weather.
Hey . . what a fantastic big day out!. Look like you all had a great time. Recognise some of those 'cold climate' flowers, but the trees look like Moreton Bay figs . . are they? Cheerz
